What’s the difference between ‘peace’ and ‘piece’?

Peace and piece are homophones in English; they are both pronounced /piːs/ but have different spellings and their meanings are completely different.

Peace is an uncountable noun. If there is peace in a country or in the world, there are no wars or violent conflicts going on.

The President spoke of a shared commitment to world peace and economic development.
They hope the treaty will bring peace and stability to the region.

If you have peace, you are not being disturbed, and you are in calmquiet surroundings.

All I want is to have some peace and quiet.

piece

Piece is a countable noun. Piece has a number of meanings, but the main meaning is an amount of something that has been broken off, torn off, or cut off.

Do you want another piece of cake? 
He wrote my name on a piece of paper.
Cut the ham into pieces.
