Here we are again, drawing out the differences between similar-looking Spanish words. Today it’s the turn of gráfico and gráfica.
Both un gráfico (masculine) and, albeit less commonly in this sense, una gráfica (feminine) can be any kind of diagram showing information in visual form – a chart:
Cada columna del gráfico representa una persona.
Each column in the chart represents one person.
Estos datos se muestran como gráficos de barras circulares.
These data are shown in the form of bar or pie charts.
El número de elementos comparados dentro de una gráfica circular suele ser de más de cuatro.
The number of elements compared in a pie chart is normally more than four.
Un gráfico (masculine) is also an image or a drawing –a graphic. It’s used particularly in the plural and is often relates to computer imagery:
David programó los juegos, mientras que María diseñó los gráficos.
David programmed the games, while María designed the graphics.
un estudio de videojuegos y gráficos de computadora
a study of videogames and computer graphics
El juego utiliza básicamente los mismos gráficos e interfaz.
The game basically uses the same graphics and interface.
Una gráfica (feminine) and, less commonly, un gráfico (masculine), can mean a line-based mathematical diagram, usually with horizontal and vertical axes, which shows the relationship between two or more sets of plotted measurements – a graph:
La gráfica muestra el crecimiento progresivo de la población.
The graph shows the progressive increase in the population.
Gráfico (together with its inflected forms gráfica, gráficos and gráficas to agree with the noun they relate to) is also an adjective. Things so described contain visual and pictorial interpretations, or are shown or described in an extremely clear and detailed way – graphic:

Anunciaron el lanzamiento de una serie de novelas gráficas.
They announced the launch of a series of graphic novels.
Su hermana, que estudiaba diseño gráfico, diseñó la portada del disco.
