Feet are an important part of our anatomy, especially when it comes to walking, which is ir a pie:
Decidimos ir a pie al castillo. We decided to walk to the castle.
¿Vas a ir a pie o en autobús? Are you walking or going by bus?
And if you stand or stand up, in peninsular Spanish the phrases are estar de pie o ponerse de pie (in Latin American Spanish, the latter is pararse instead):
Permanecieron mucho tiempo de pie. They were standing for a long time.
Al verme, se puso de pie. When he saw me he stood up.
Apart from referring to people’s feet, pie is also used in a similar way to English for things which are the foot of an inanimate object:
Un vestido colgaba a los pies de la cama. There was a dress hanging at the foot of the bed.
un pueblo al pie del monte a village at the foot of the mountain
