This week’s Spanish word of the week is conocer.

Conocer is a verb that means to know.

The Spanish word conocer means to know, but only when you’re talking about knowing people and places:

La conozco.  I know her.

Apenas nos conocemos. We hardly know each other.

Conozco bien París.  I know Paris well.

llegar a  conocer a alguien  to get to know somebody

Don’t forget to use the word a before the names of people you know:

Conocemos muy bien a Lara.   We know Lara very well.

Conozco a un buen electricista.  I know a good electrician.

By the way, to say that you know something, you use the Spanish saber:

No lo sé.  I don’t know.
